Raccoon Rehabilitation
at Gordon Wildlife
Preparing animals for a safe and successful release back to the wild.
Gordon Wildlife is a Class II RVS wildlife rehabilitation center in rural New York State dedicated to the rehabilitation of orphaned and injured raccoons.
Located on 53 acres of prime wooded habitat chosen specifically for raccoons, Gordon Wildlife’s primary campus comprises an office and admitting building, three nurseries, an educational area, and numerous pre-release enclosures and den boxes throughout the woods. Our land adjoins several hundred acres of protected state forest.
The goal of wildlife rehabilitation is to prepare an animal for safe and successful release back to the wild. Gordon Wildlife boasts extensive caging and enclosures, medical and rehabilitation training and enrichment protocols designed to meet the needs of all stages of an orphaned raccoon’s life, from critical neonate care to release back to the wild.
All raccoons raised and released to the wild are fully vaccinated against rabies and other canine and feline diseases.
In addition to general rehabilitation work, our on-site veterinary presence allows for the intake of injured adults and more complex medical cases.
If you have found a wild animal you believe may need help, please contact us for advice before taking action to determine if intervention is necessary.
We only work with raccoons but we have a wide-reaching network of colleagues and can help with a referral for other species.
