Our memorial glass bead necklaces, which incorporate your pet’s ashes, are handmade by glass artist and wildlife rehabilitator, Sarah Holmes Bookbinder.

Sarah’s work has been featured in galleries throughout New York State, including the gift shop at the Corning Museum of Glass.

Sarah has devoted her life to honoring the sacred bond between animals and people.

She worked alongside her husband, veterinary surgeon, Paul Bookbinder, in his small animal practice for over a decade before becoming licensed as a wildlife rehabilitator and leaving to found the nonprofit wildlife center, the Charles N Gordon Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where she currently serves as Executive Director.

Proceeds from your memorial bead will be donated to Gordon Wildlife, where your loved one’s legacy will live on to provide hope and a new chance at life for countless animals of the future.

In addition to high quality art glass and your pet’s ashes (which are floating among the clouds), Sarah’s memorial bead designs incorporate encased air bubbles. These symbolize the air, atmosphere, and love that we continue to share with our loved ones, even after they are gone.

In Sarah’s mind, these air bubbles poked into the glass are manifestations of the Native Alaskan proverb: “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.”

Among the Clouds Memorial Glass Bead Necklace
$145.00

Memorial glass beads are strung on an American-made black leather cord with sterling silver accent beads and a sterling silver clasp. Please specify 16”, 18” or 20” length. It takes a lot of glass to hold infinite love. These beads are fairly large.

Please send approximately one teaspoon of ashes per bead, double bagged and tightly sealed to Gordon Wildlife: 6135 Vosburg Road, Earlville, NY 13332. If possible, please also send a picture of your pet along with their ashes, their nicknames, and anything else you might like her to know about them, so that Sarah can keep their image and memory beside her torch while she creates your bead.

Each handmade bead is unique and will contain variations in color and pattern. The background colors can vary to include blue, black, green and grey tones. This is part of the magic. If desired, a photo of your bead can be sent before shipping for final approval.

Please allow up to 4 weeks for delivery. Rush production and delivery are available for an additional $49.

Custom requests accepted. Email Sarah at sarahbookbinder72@gmail.com to discuss your ideas.
